Coming Soon – Phillies Sports Bar and Restaurant

by on Aug.21, 2010, under Front Page

August 21st, 2010

Yep, that’s right, another “sports bar” type place “having a go” at it in AC.

If anything, they have a great location to start with, constructing up their new place on the corner of Fields and Raymond where Sub-Delicious used to be.  Hopefully they fare better than their predecessors, who, while starting off strong, really spiraled down quickly a few short years later.

The news is that “Shano” formerly of Shano’s Sports Pub on Santos Street (now the International) will be running the place.   Phillies surely has the perfect location, but to set themselves apart from the rest, they’ll really need to stand out in terms of menu, service and overall satisfaction.  The “sports bar” model hasn’t really made it in AC thus far.  I think due in part to some confusion on the customer base’s part.

Tourists, on one hand, are there to barhop and screw their brains out.  Expats, on the other hand, lean towards the good deals and best service (read:  Perimeter & Santos).   Who is there to sit in a bar and watch sports all the time?   Not sure, but good luck to Phillies—they do bear the namesake of my home town and baseball team if nothing else.

Kokomoz Pool Party this Sunday @ 12noon

by on Jan.21, 2010, under Front Page

January 21st, 2010

This Sunday, starting at 12 noon, Kokomoz will host another pool party with girls from 8 different bars in attendance.  The entrance fee is 1000 pesos, and includes all-u-can-eat buffet and all-u-can-drink local drinks, music, fun and games with a pool full of wet girls.  I like pool parties.  Have I ever mentioned that?

And Casi Cielo Bar wants you to know that their “Magnificent Seven” will be there as well:

Angeles City Restaurants Page Updated!

by on Jan.12, 2010, under Front Page

January 13th, 2010

This page was even more outdated than the Hotel and Bar pages were.  I honestly completely forgot about it for a period of two years or more.  Then, as I was skimming through all of the links on my own site here over the holidays, I came across it and was stunned with utter disbelief and embarrassment that I had let it go for so long.  Ok, well, maybe not that stunned and embarrassed—that’s a little much.  But if you saw my Restaurants Page before, you might have thought there were only four or five places to eat in all of Angeles City.  Well, it’s now 2010 and that surely is not the case.  Check out the newly updated Angeles City Restaurants page.

Nice barhopping video

by on Jan.09, 2010, under Front Page

January 9th, 2010

Nowadays, just about everyone has some sort of video-taking gadget that goes with them wherever they go.  Whether it’s a high-tech phone, mini-camera or what have you.  Just five or six years ago it wasn’t like that.  Really amazing how fast the technology spreads when you think about it.  When I first started going to AC in 2002, I had an old 35mm film camera with me, and you hardly ever saw anyone in the bars with an actual video camera.  These days, everyone has one it seems, and there’s plenty of AC-related videos on the internet to prove it.  Here’s a rather nice one uploaded recently of a Body Paint night in Club Tropix.  Lots of tits and ass to feast your eyes on in here; I know it certainly got me excited for my next trip.

Hotel Page Updated for 2010!

by on Jan.07, 2010, under Front Page

January 7th, 2010

I am proud to announce that I finally got around to updating the AC Funpage’s horribly outdated hotels page.  I mean seriously, it hadn’t been updated for about 2 years or more.  There were still hotels on there that have long since been out of business and we were missing the entire “new AC” generation of hotels that have popped up.  On the refurbished page, you’ll find a logo link to just about every hotel Angeles City currently has to offer—-minus the rinky-dink short-time hotels.

Also, you will get a “quick-look” at the room rates for each place underneath its logo.  Please note that the exchange rate is ever changing, so those dollar amounts I have listed are approximate; enough to give you a general idea when planning a trip.  Always contact the hotel directly for the most up-to-the-minute prices.  And yes, I will get around to updating the clubs & bars page in a short while (sometime this year, ha) too.

Club of the Month – Fantasy

by on Jan.06, 2010, under Front Page

January 6th, 2010

For the first club feature of 2010, I chose Fantasy Club of the La Pasha Group.  It was born in May 2009 on the same lot as many before it, so it’s not really a “new” club per se.  That spot has changed names & owners so many times in recent years that I can’t even remember them all—–and I’ve followed AC pretty closely.  Seeing how it is owned by the La Pasha Group now, maybe Fantasy will fare better than its predecessors at that location (they seem to do pretty well with their bars).  The German’s are nothing if not efficient managers though, aren’t they?  It is located just a few doors up from Cambodia and Golden Nile on lower Fields.  You can find it easily on the Asian Escapades map.  Here is some of the basic bar info from Fantasy’s website:

“The atmosphere is characterized by constant attention from our beautiful and friendly waitresses. Our gorgeous dancers do there best to entertain you, DJ Dan plays all the latest hits. relax on one of our cozy sofas and have a drink with one or more of our beautiful ladies,  the bar is fully stocked and have professional Bartenders.”

  • Opened:  May 8th, 2009

Hotel of the Month – PJ Ramada

by on Jan.05, 2010, under Front Page

January 5th, 2010

Since it’s a whole new year, I decided to spot one of the newer hotels in town this month.  Overall, The PJ Ramada Hotel looks like a fairly decent place to stay in AC these days.  Their website is efficient and straight-forward and the room rates are a nice bargain compared to a lot of places in town presently.  They range from $22 to $37 bucks, give or take depending on the current exchange rate.  Ramada’s has all of the modern amenities one would expect in 2010, including free Wi-Fi internet.  They are located on Narciso Street, across from the Tiger Hotel; basically, the side road off of Fields that is directly across from the Checkpoint Jeepney Terminal.  Use AE’s map and you’ll see it better.  They don’t actually have Ramada’s on the map yet, but find Medgar Hotel and it’s right near there; just opposite side of Narciso St.  Anyway, here’s a few pics of the place too:

New Year’s Eve Festivities…

by on Dec.30, 2009, under Front Page

December 28th, 2009

Well, it’s the end of 2009, so there are New Year’s Eve parties scheduled just about everywhere; too many to mention really.  If you’re in AC, it will be a happening time; just look out for the fireworks—-they go crazy with them there.  I don’t know the exact numbers on how many Filipino’s lose fingers each New Year’s Eve, but I know it’s a lot.  Here are just a few of the places you could spend the last nigh of the decade:

Lost In Asia
Lost In Asia will be open to around 11pm on New Year’s Eve.  Weird, since the ball drops at 12, I know.  But here’s the good news:  To take a girl out after 7pm will only be 1000 pesos.  And if you show your PIatNight.com membership card, you’ll get another 10% off.  (*note – you MUST show your card!)  They will be closed New Years Day, so it is between you and the girl what happens that day.  The girls will get double salary on Saturday, January 2nd, so expect lots of happy girls that day. They will also continue their popular Saturday and Sunday promotion of 130 peso ladies drinks (including a local drink for you).

Eruptions Resto-Bar
Eruptions Resto-bar will be hosting a New Year’s Eve party all night.  If you don’t already know, it is located on the first left before Gentleman’s Club if your heading towards Perimeter from Fields.  You can find it easily on the Asian Escapades Interactive Map.  Their doors will open at 3pm and close when the party is done.  Yes, they will extend their hours past the usual midnight closing.  Local drinks are 50 pesos, ladies drinks are 100 pesos and there will be FREE finger food and BBQ favorites.

ABC Hotel Sky Bar & Lounge
If you like class, then The ABC Hotel’s Sky Bar & Lounge might be the place for you on New Year’s Eve.  It is probably the classiest joint anywhere on Fields.  As a matter of fact, when you ride past the ABC Hotel, it sorta sticks out like a beautiful flower in a steaming pile of shit.  To join The Sky Bar’s New Year’s Eve party, all you’ll need to do is pay the 300 peso entry fee.  I’m not sure what all that will include other than enjoying the fireworks and the company of some fine ladies in a fine establishment.
