It was a long week of show and pageantry, but the “Miss Club Asia 2010″ contest came to an end last Saturday night in Club Tropix.  There were winners in several different categories including Best in Gown, Best in Swimsuit, Miss Photogenic, etc.

I can’t tell you who the winner was because I really don’t know.  I mainly just enjoy looking at some photos of the hot babes from AC when I’m not there.  Check out the photo album below if you do too.

Ok, so this new Korean-owned place named Shark Bar opens last Sunday night.  It is located where Paradise/Angel’s used to be on Lower Fields.   Local drinks 95p, ladies drinks are 150p and an EWR is 1500p;  pretty standard pricing for the area.

I talked to a friend who stopped in and he said they had a few better-than-average looking girls, but the place is nearly half the size of what Paradise/Angel’s was.   I guess they did some renovating and used space for “back offices” or something.  He did mention that the aircon was seemingly inadequate that the ventilation was poor.

The arrangement is a little different from what Paradise/Angel’s used to be. When you come in the front door to Paradise, the stage used to be on the right.  In Shark Bar, the stage is facing the front door.

They have elevated seating to the right and left as you go in and a bar & stool arrangement placed in front of the stage.  There are about 35 dancers and 7 waitresses on hand, although they may have been more hiding somewhere.  The 2 mamasans are from Club Lancelot a few doors down.

Now here’s the kicker.  So my friend stops by again Monday and the bar was CLOSED.  Reason, you ask?   No permit to operate.  Well duh!    I guess we’ll see how long it takes them to get that sorted out.

Believe it or not, there are other things to see and do in the Angeles City / Balibago area besides the bars.  (could’ve fooled me though)

This past week was the 15^th International Philippine Balloon Fiesta on Clark Field.  If you woke up early enough to go, you saw a nice aerial display of colorful balloons and some other interesting aeronautical exhibits on the ground.

If you missed it like 99% of the mongers in AC, here’s a slideshow of the goings-on, along with a video done by some guy filming his girlfriend at the event:

No, not the Asian Escapades map that I’m always linking to.  That one is great in its own right for Angeles and Subic (and Wayne’s AC Map before that), but this one I just found the other day…..this one is simply AMAZING!   It has clickable, detailed maps for just about EVERY worthwhile location in the ENTIRE Country!

It really goes above and beyond anything else out there.  Want to find out what hotels are located near LA Café in Ermita?  No problem.  Want to take a “video” walking tour through the alley-way’s of Sabang in Puerto Galera?  Got you covered.  Want to see the inside of Wet Spot Bar in Subic?  You got it.  Want to see exactly where your hotel is located on White Beach in Boracay?  Done.

The detail and precision is unbelievable, and to accomplish that on such a large, country-wide scale is truly remarkable.  Leave to the Japanese to put something like this together.  This map should be an absolute essential for any Philippines traveler—-monger or otherwise.

This past weekend, at the Wild Orchid Resort on Santos Street, Club Asia held its “Miss Club Asia Photo-shoot 2010”, Day 1.

So I suppose there will be multiple days to this contest going on all week; it’s kind of like the Olympics, only nobody gets killed going 90 mph on their backs, and the competitors are hot little brown chicks in bikinis, versus hairy, chap-lipped white women in full-body snow-suits.

The girls were in their Sunday best for the occasion, as you can see in the accompanying photo album below.  Good luck to all contestants and remember:

Beginning today, Roadhouse Club is expanding their famous two-4-one Happy Hour (on ALL drinks) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. an extra hour to 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Also, Roadhouse’s new hours of operation will be 5:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. every day.  Their new manager Dave (formerly of Paradise and Voodoo), says they are working on relaxing the atmosphere a bit, recruiting new girls and adding more tables.

Roadhouse is one of the oldest, most professionally run bars in town, with trustworthy service and a meticulously clean facility.  They ALWAYS welcome PIatNight board members and honor the 10% PIatNight member discount (non-happy hour) all night.

Here it is.  Tomorrow at Kokomoz, from noon ‘til midnight, it’s the Grand Opening of the NEW Casi Cielo’s at Kokomoz.   That’s twelve hours of partying guys.  From the on-the-ground reports I’m getting, they’ve done quite a bit of decorating in the Kokomoz pool area for it.
