Blue Nile Group now has a Happy Hour (finally!)

I don’t know if it’s the shitty world economy, the bitching & moaning on the message boards, or enough customers simply voting with their feet, but the oft-maligned Blue Nile Group has finally felt the need to establish a “Happy Hour” for some reason. I was never one to plan my barhops around which bars offered Happy Hours and when, but for you thrifty (read: kuripot, cheap charlie) mongers out there or guys living in AC on fixed incomes, this is good news.
As of now, all beer and local drinks are 50 pesos during Happy Hour. They actually started it on January 25th, so I’m a little late with this, but here are the new Blue Nile Group Happy Hours:
Updated Bar Data Sheets – January 2010 editions!

There are so many great resources online these-days that mongers can plan out their AC trips like Operation Desert Storm. Almost every business in AC worth anything has its own web presence by now, and there are all of these super-helpful tools like AE’s interactive map and PIatNight’s Bar Data Sheets available; things that completely remove all of the guess-work.
Sure, for most veterans, they may seem unnecessary and like “overkill” maybe, and there are even some newbies out there who might prefer “guesswork” and exploring it all on their own. However, there are a lot of people discovering AC who are not veterans and who want as much info as they can get. I would venture to say that because of the internet, the “word” about AC is spreading at an exponential rate compared to 10 or 15 years ago when it was mostly just “word of mouth”. Using some of these tools is like using an electronic “fish finder” gadget on your boat versus simply casting your rod overboard and hoping for a bite.
Now, while I wouldn’t call going to every last bar in AC to gather this data “hard work” exactly, it still must’ve been slightly tedious to accomplish accurately (especially after a few San Migs). So, a lot of credit should go to the guys at PIatNight for doing it for us.
Newly updated for January 2010, here are the PIatNight Bar Data Sheets. You’ll find the operating hours, (incl. Happy Hours), ladies and local drink prices, and EWR prices for each & every bar on Fields Ave and Perimeter Road. Simply “right click” to download yourself a .pdf copy of each.
Valhalla Bar – (where DMZ used to be)

Hans from Valhalla Bar was kind enough to email me to remind us that DMZ Bar is no longer in existence and has been replaced by Valhalla for a while now.  Some websites and AC maps out there still list DMZ bar. As most of you know, DMZ bar was Angeles City’s oldest bar still in operation until recently. While I have to admit I only set foot in the place maybe twice in all of my visits, it was just one of those places in AC that was always there. Kinda like the T-shirt salesmen, beggars and street urchins. I do remember them having a tired, worn-out looking lineup the few times that I did go in, but DMZ did have a strong following with some of the old-timer military types.
