Hotel of the Month – Angeles Beach Club

by on Dec.03, 2010, under Front Page

December 3rd, 2010

Why ABC Hotel you ask?  If for no other reason than all of the hot-ass pics they have on their website (which is newly re-designed by the way).  Love it or hate it, ABC Hotel is very much “the class” of Angeles City accommodations in this new era.  While most of the old-timers would never pay the kind of prices they’re charging for rooms there, it’s nice to have a first-class option like ABC Hotel in Angeles.  I’ve stayed there myself and it truly is as plush & elegant as it appears!

As their slogan says, “You only live once…”

All of that and they throw some kick-ass pool parties too!

Hotel of the Month – Wild Orchid Lagoon Wing

June 9th, 2010

For this month’s Hotel, I’ve selecting the fairly new “Lagoon Wing” addition at the Wild Orchid Resort on Santos Street.  Newly opened late last year, the new add-on features 48 rooms surrounding a beautiful “lagoon” pool setting.  Every room has a balcony over-looking the pool area, with the ground floor rooms having direct access to it.

The rooms come fully equipped with TV, Cable, DVD player, Air-Con, Ceiling Fan, In-Room Safe, King-Size Mattress & Box Spring, and Wi-Fi internet connection.  The prices range from p4,500 to p5,400 or roughly $102 to $123 in U.S. Dollars.  Ok, yeah, it’s a bit pricey for AC, but if you have the money and want to splurge, you won’t be disappointed.

A close friend of the AC Funpage stayed there as recently as April and vouches for the Lagoon Wing’s superior quality and relaxing atmosphere.  He also added, “Every girl I brought there loved it!” That says it all right there.

Here are some photos and a video…

Hotel of the Month – Affinity Condo Resort

by on Apr.14, 2010, under Front Page

April 14th, 2010

For April’s Hotel of the Month, I chose Affinity Condo Resort.  They really have to thank Dru and his Angeles City Video Blog’s for putting their place on the map here in online Mongerville.  If you’ve watched any of his videos, you’ve seen how nice the place is.  Dru’s videos alone can tell you a lot more than any of my words here can, so I suggest you check them out if you haven’t already.

If you look at the map on their site, you can see they’re only located a block or two off of Fields Ave; nice and private like.  Affinity’s Condos are available for one night or long term rent and I believe the nightly rate is less for long term.  There are several different types of condos available, but all of them look modern, clean and comfortable.  The place seems to be full of amenities, and as you see in Dru’s videos, is employed with a friendly, smiling staff.

If you want a bit of privacy in newly modeled, spacious condo with plenty of niceties at an affordable rate, Affinity Condo Resort might be the answer for you.  From what I’ve seen in Dru’s videos, I plan to check it out myself next trip.

Hotel of the Month – Bangkok Hotel

by on Mar.07, 2010, under Front Page

March 7th, 2010

For this month’s feature hotel, I’m going with a place my friend Alfred told me about, the Bangkok Hotel.  He has stayed there several trips now and swears to me it’s a great place at a great value.

The Bangkok Hotel is neatly located down on Lower Fields, just across from Club Asia and the Walk-about Hotel.  It is Korean owned, hence the Korean restaurant right out in front of it.  Alfred says the rooms are great, with excellent Wi-Fi for ‘net junkies like him, and the location is perfect for hardcore barhoppers.  At 1,100 pesos, it’s a great value for being situated right where it is.

If you’re a newbie going to AC soon, and you’re not sure where to stay yet, this place is a great option.  You will be right in the thick of the action, not needing to worry much about trikes, and for a budget price that can’t be beat.  Another reason I’m making this my Hotel of the Month is because it also gives me the shameless opportunity to recite one of my favorite Chinese Proverbs:   “Man who walk sideways through turnstile, always going to Bangkok.”

Hotel and Club of the month for September

by on Sep.09, 2009, under Front Page

September 9th, 2009

This month I’ll elaborate a bit more on our Hotel and Club of the Month selections.  First, the Underground Bar as Club of the Month.  I’ve heard some nice things about the place so far and they even have a website up already.  It has some additional pics of the girls on there (who I hear are quite a frisky bunch) and it looks like it will be updated frequently.  It’s nice to have a new bar like this right there on Santos St.  Perfect for a first and/or last stop if you’re staying at the Wild Orchid or Pacific Breeze (whenever it re-opens).  Although the average expected lifespan of a new bar in AC is only slightly longer than a 2nd Lieutenant’s was in Vietnam, I am hoping Underground Bar makes it.  Be sure to stop in and check it out on your next trip.

Now for Hotel of the Month I just picked a random one to report on.   After looking at the Medgar Apartelle’s website and researching some posts about it on PIatNight and AC2, it sounds like a decent, reasonably priced place to stay while in AC.   Deluxe rooms are regularly priced at 1,700 pesos ($36) and Executive rooms are at 2,400 pesos ($50).  That being said, their website now advertises a 25% “Rainy Season Discount” going through September, so you might find value in that.  I will say this though:  Due to the location of it, I wouldn’t recommend it for the first-time (or lazy) visitor.

As you will see from the overhead map on their website, it is located a few blocks off of Fields in somewhat of a residential area.  What I always tell the newbies is this:  Get one of the places right on lower Fields in the heart of the action for your first trip.  It just simplifies things for you and you don’t have to worry about getting lost or dealing with trike drivers that much.  But for the experienced visitor who might want to try a new place or someplace quieter and low-key, Medgar Apartelle might be worth checking out.   See their website for more details.
